Shibuya during Covid19

(English below)

In Tokyo the lock down for the coronavirus (Covid19) started at the end of March till May/4.

It’s a soft lock down, people can go out but most of the activities are closed, such as dept.Store, bars, restaurants and some shops

Shibuya is one of the twenty-three wards (city) of Tokyo, known as the crowded crossing in Japan, where thousands of young people every day stroll around looking for the ultimate trendy place or simply for the most transgressive entertainment. Shibuya is in fact known as one of the most colorful place in town and its Station is serving over 2 million people a day.

But not these days! The covid 19 had of course a big impact on the most popular district of Tokyo and some good person also put a mask to Hachiko, the famous statue, honoring the faithful Akita dog.

The roads are empty, only few young guys are going around like nothing happened, the crossing for the first time is empty on Saturday afternoon and few photographer are trying to capture these rare moments.

This is how Shibuya crossing looked on Saturday Apr/18.
